Achieve the best results with your orthodontic treatment:
Along with the advice your dentist gives you, this guide will instruct you in the use of aligners. If the advice is not followed, the treatment result may be delayed or the desired treatment result will not be achieved.
These systems give you a set of aligners that are custommade for you. The aligners are used in a specific order over a set period of time and thus regulate your teeth without steel wire and fixed braces.
Delivery and use:
Based on your treatment plan, a series of numbered aligners have been developed using three-dimensional computer technology. Once your dentist has received the aligners from the USA, you will receive the first set of aligners, which you will need for approx. 14 days and then switch to the next set of aligners. You will need a check-up approx. every 6 weeks. Perhaps a little more frequently at the beginning of treatment.
How to use:
When inserting the first set of aligners, your dentist instructs you in proper use so the desired effect is achieved without you risking any damage.
Before touching the aligners, always wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. Make sure you start with aligner number 1 and go up one align number at a time. Note that the aligners marked “U” (upper) belong to the upper mouth, and “L” (lower) fits to the lower mouth. The actual mounting is done by gently pushing the aligner over the teeth and giving it a straight push on the top of your left and right molar until the aligner “click” into place. You may damage the aligners if you try to bite them into place. When removing the aligners, use your fingertips to remove them.
The aligners only work when you wear them! It is important that you wear the aligners at all times – day and night – except when eating, drinking or brushing your teeth.
Storage when not used:
The aligners are cleaned with liquid soap and a hard toothbrush, dried and placed in the blue box so you reduce the risk of damage. When it’s time to change the aligners, put the old ones in the red box. You may need previously used rails if a aligner breaks and a new one needs to be manufactured. It is a good idea to store all used rails until the treatment is complete.
Maintenance of aligners and teeth:
Always clean the aligners with liquid soap and rinse thoroughly with water. Never use denture cleaner or mouthwash to clean the aligners, as this can damage and discolor the plastic.
Always remove the aligners before eating or drinking. Brush your teeth and floss as usual after each meal and before inserting the aligners.
