Erectile dysfunction

Another comorbidity in periodontitis (Tandlægebladet 2/2020)

Periodontitis can dispose to erectile dysfunction. It is well known that periodontitis is a risk factor for vascular disorders such as myocardial infarction and stroke. Dutch researchers have compiled an overview of the existing knowledge about the vascular condition erectile dysfunction. 9 cross-sectional studies and 3 meta-analyzes have found an association between periodontitis and erectile dysfunction. 1 finds improvement in the situation after periodontal treatment. The studies are generally new and the observation time is short, but periodontal treatment may be a relevant part of the treatment of vascular conditional erectile dysfunction.
