Toothbrushes
As a general rule, soft toothbrushes are recommended. Medium and hard brushes should be avoided. If you can get your teeth reasonably clean with a traditional toothbrush, this is good, but if you have problems, you should consider an electric toothbrush. It has been proven that an electric toothbrush removes plaque better than traditional brushes.
Baby and junior brushes
Consider these if you have difficulty reaching behind the back tooth or get gag reflexes when using a toothbrush.
Solo brushes
These brushes are small and can reach hard-to-reach places, e.g. wisdom teeth and braces. They are a supplement to the normal toothbrush.
Tongue scraper
If you have bad breath or a dark tongue (smoker, chlorhexidine), you can use a tongue scraper. Be careful not to be too violent in using them, so that the tongue gets irritated or gets tears. Alternatively, you can use an ultra-soft toothbrush with gentle sweeping movements.
